(NAME)
Article 1. The name of this Association shall be コロンビア大学日本同窓会 (in English: Columbia University Alumni Association of Japan).
(PURPOSES)
Article 2. The purposes for which the Association is established are to foster a continuing relationship between Columbia University and the alumni members and to promote mutual friendship and understanding amongst alumni members.
(QUALIFICATION FOR ADMISSION)
Article 3. All persons residing in Japan who are (i) graduates of Columbia University (including Barnard collage and Teachers college), (ii) former students of Columbia University who participated in any degree program more than one (1) year, and (iii) visiting scholars at Columbia University, shall be qualified for membership of the Association; provided, however, that any person who has been specifically approved at a meeting of the officers from time to time and persons whose names have appeared on the registry of the Association as of February, 1989 shall be qualified for membership irrespective of the foregoing requirements.
(MEMBERSHIP)
Article 4. Any person who fulfills the qualification requirements for admission under Article 3 above and who has applied for membership for the Association and paid the admission fee of Japanese Yen 3,000 shall become a member of the Association. Every member has a right to be informed of and to participate in all of the various activities open to the general membership and general meetings of the Association.
(OFFICERS)
Article 5. The number of specified officers shall be as follows:

President: one (1)
Advisers: not more than five (5)
Vice-Presidents: not more than five (5)
The President shall have the power to exercise general control over the affairs of the Association. Each Vice-President shall be responsible for either a committee to be assigned or the office of the Secretariat.
The Meeting of Officers shall be held from time to time whenever it is necessary.
An Honorary President and other officers may be elected form time to time whenever it is deemed necessary.
The term of any office is two (2) years, commencing upon election and terminating at the close of the second General Membership Meeting following the election.
(MEETINGS)
Article 6. The General Membership Meeting shall be convened once annually.
The General Membership Meeting is the supreme organ of this Association and has the power to elect all officers and to establish the rights and duties of all members of the Association.
Special Meetings of the membership and/or meetings of the officers may be held from time to time whenever it is deemed necessary.
(SECRETARIAT)
Article 7. The office of the Secretariat shall be established in the Association.
The minutes of both the General membership Meeting and officers' meetings as well as the books of account and other records of the Association shall be placed in the Secretariat's custody for safekeeping.
(AMENDMENT)
Article 8. These Articles may be amended only a majority of the votes of the members present at a General Membership Meeting of the Association.
